(thematic section edited by Severino Saccardi)

This section of “Testimonianze” is dedicated to think over a crucial question: Do the 2000s also have a soul? Such complex topic is treated in the various contributions through multiple points of view highlighting hence the complexity of our era. It is a beginning of the century marked by the end of the certainties, several ongoing revolutions (such as the greater pervasiveness of social media and AI), wars, migrations, pandemics, the reappearing spectre of a nuclear catastrophe and climate change. Such uncertainties become the source of psychological and social problems, especially for young people, as witnessed in the articles. However, the need for spirituality is more alive than ever: not necessarily in religious terms but in new forms and ways. An exit way from the crisis is equally sought: critical reflection is discovered again and the challenge of seeking an unprecedented solution to the problems of our time is accepted. This is demonstrated by the commitment of so many young people and women to the defence of rights and the assumption of responsibility on the issues of the environment and the safeguarding of life on our planet. Hence through individual and collective commitment that spiritual side, which sometimes seems to have gone lost, is rediscovered.
